The Georgetown Groveland Dance Studio's caring and highly skilled staff creates a friendly and warm atmosphere that is conducive to the dance experience. We work with each student to develop correct dance posture and techniques.  Each dancer develops skills that center on discipline and teamwork; all while having fun. 

Dancing builds self-confidence, promotes physical health, and establishes friendships that can last a lifetime. 


Meet Our Staff


Heather O'Toole Murphy
Owner/Director

Heather has been with the Agnes Strecker Dance Studio since 2007 teaching at both the Groveland, MA and Revere, MA locations.
In 2014 when Agnes Retired Heather purchased the studio and  brought to us the Groveland Dance Academy. Heather recently purchased PGH Studio and combined them to bring to you the Georgetown Groveland Dance Studio.

She started dance at a young age with the Darla Kash School of Dance in Charleroi, PA. At the age of 15 she started teaching and that is when she knew that her passion would some day be her career.
Heather was a member of the Mon Valley Ballet Theater at the California University of Pennsylvania. She studied in Las Vegas under the Tony Award winning Choreographer Dr Henry LeTang, and attended Point Park College in Pittsburgh, PA where she studied Dance
Heather is also a certified pound pro teaching Pound Fit and Sole-Mate certified in Sole power fitness.

Heather resides in Epping, NH with her husband three children.  Heather is dedicated to providing a well rounded dance education to her students and to making each child feel welcome and comfortable. She strives to make the studio a family friendly environment.




Vanessa Raftery

Vanessa started dance at the Agnes Strecker Dance Studio in Revere, MA at the age of 3 and continued to dance as well as teach at her studios (Revere, and Groveland) until Agnes retired in June 2014.  In September 2014, Heather Murphy took ownership of the Groveland Studio and Vanessa was thrilled to be by Heather’s side as her Artistic Director.  Vanessa is trained in tap, jazz, ballet, and participated in Dance Education Training from the Dance Teacher’s Club of Boston.  She has performed in places such as Disney, the Danmark Tall Ship, numerous community parades and other local events.  Vanessa is always searching for the next unique event for the studio to be involved in.  She is a certified Kindermusik Educator and also a Zumba Instructor.  Vanessa continues to further her dance knowledge as a member of the Dance Teacher’s Club of Boston as well as by attending master classes and participating in conventions such as Pulse and Jump.  She has taught all ages and skill level but has a special passion for teaching the younger ones.  Vanessa loves to see how excited they are for class and watch their growth throughout the year.   She enjoys piecing the end of the year production together along with Heather to make sure their artistic vision is achieved.

Vanessa attended Marian Court College, where she graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management. She has combined her love of travel with her passion of dance which has afforded her the opportunity to coordinate a trip aboard the Norwegian Majesty for the entire staff and guests.  She also arranged other studio trips to destinations such as Disney for a stage show and more recently dancing in the electric parade!  Vanessa is always planning ahead...who knows what adventure is next!

Michelle Deane

Michelle Deane started her dance training in Southern California, at Desert Ballet Centre.  She graduated with a BFA in Dance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and continued her education at Cambridge College receiving her M.Ed.  Since 2002, Michelle has been teaching and performing all over New England.  She has been a Company member for Adrienne T. Hawkins “Day Job Dancers” in addition to teaching at Impulse Dance Study in Boston.  She was also a member of many Boston based dance companies which include Six One Seven Dance Collective, Rainbow Tribe Dance Company, Triiiple Threat Entertainment, Synergy Dance Company and was also Co-founder and choreographer for Amara Dance Company.  For over ten years, she was principle dancer and client liaison for Upside Entertainment and KLASS Universal Entertainment, both premier Boston Entertainment and DJ Companies. Currently Michelle is the newest member of the Beantown Lockers; a Boston based hip-hop locking dance company.  Michelle is also currently a Professor of Dance at Northern Essex Community College and Salem State University, teaching a wide variety of dance forms that are both movement and lecture based.  Teaching and choreographing at the college level, she has had the opportunity to showcase her work at the American College Dance Assoc. Festivals at Connecticut College, Boston University and SUNY Potsdam. This is Michelle’s second season teaching Hip-Hop with Groveland Georgetown Dance Academy, and LOVES working with the students in her home community of Georgetown


Kristen Piekos

Kristen Piekos graduated Magna Cum Laude from Keene State College with a Bachelors degree in Theater and Dance in 2004. She majored in Theater, specializing in acting/directing and minored in Dance.  Kristen has studied with many professional dance companies including Pilobolus and Sean Curran. She has performed for her college internship at the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida.  She has have over 30 years of classical ballet training as well as backgrounds in Jazz and Modern Dance.  Kristen has been the resident choreographer at Billerica High School since 2012 for their musical theater program and is currently performing and doing choreography for Acting Out Community Theater Company based in Lawrence.  She is a  licensed Zumba instructor since 2012 holding licenses to teach Zumba Fitness, Zumba Toning, Zumba Step, Zumba Sentao, and Strong by Zumba. Kristen came to GGDS three years ago as a Zumba instructor and has simply embraced the dance curriculum.  Her goal is to make dance accessible for everyone and when someone leaves her class they leave feeling accomplished.


Sarah Zambella- Studio Secretary

Sarah has been working at the studio for many years assuring that the studio runs smoothly and is the face of the studio when you walk into the doors.  She wears many hats at our studio while fulfilling her role as studio secretary.  Sarah lives in Groveland , Ma with her husband Rich, Daughter Elisa and puppy Brady.  She is often a second mother to all of the dance students as well as nurse, and friend. We are are so lucky to have her jack of all trade expertise on staff with us!
